Corona Bunny

I knit a pink stuffed bunny a long time ago for a baby-to-be, and I always planned to knit another one for me and my family. I had used a pattern that wasn’t especially fun to knit and that had required a lot of sewing.

This time around, I used a far better pattern, and it was an absolute delight to knit!

PROJECT BREAKDOWN

Pattern: Christopher Bunny and Christopher Bunny’s Garter Hoodie + Tiny Bunny, both by Susan B. Anderson

Yarn: Ontheround Everyday Worsted in colorways Caribou, Robin’s Egg, Sugar Maple and Hemlock

My Ravelry project page for my Corona Bunny, which includes exact yardage used, can be viewed here.

There was no better time for me to knit a bunny rabbit than during this coronavirus pandemic. The news has been growing increasingly grim and fearful since the start of the outbreak, and I’ve found it hard to keep my spirits up. Fortunately, time at home with my two kids has been wonderful, and I’ve taken great comfort in knitting. Specifically, with Easter right around the corner, this pattern proved to be the perfect uplifting recipe. This little guy gives me great joy!

The Christopher Bunny pattern comes with directions for knitting the bunny (complete with floppy ears and a wee round tail), a colorwork sweater and striped pants. The second pattern is supplementary and includes directions for the garter hoodie and tiny bunny. I knit the entire bunny using Ontheround Everyday Worsted. What a treat! I used the colorway Caribou for the bunny and tiny bunny; Robin’s Egg for the main color of the sweater and pants; Sugar Maple for the second color of the sweater and pants and for the hoodie pompom; and Hemlock for the garter hoodie. The orange buttons are from my grandmother’s button jar.

What have you been knitting during the coronavirus pandemic? Has it helped ease your anxiety? I have one additional skein of Ontheround Everyday Worsted in the Caribou colorway and would like to spread the love and send it to someone, free of charge. For this mini giveaway, simply leave a comment below, any comment. I will use a RNG to determine a winner on Easter Sunday, April 12th at 12:00 PM CST. Good luck!

The winner was comment number 6!
